Mozambique already has a marine management plan

The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, launched today in the city of Vilankulo, Inhambane province, a maritime spatial planning plan as part of the strategy for good governance of the sea and sustainable management of marine resources.

This is an instrument that contemplates five space categories and classes, namely, Total Protection Zones, Qualified Zones, Zones for Existing Uses, Activities or Functions, Zones for Potential Uses, Activities or Functions, and Uses, Activities and Functions with no Zoning Assigned.

According to the government, through this instrument Mozambique is now among the 38% African countries that have a specific instrument for the consolidation of the management of the sea within the Blue Economy.
