The construction work for the graphite processing factory complex in the village of Muichi, district headquarters of Nipepe, in Niassa, northern Mozambique, is already underway.
According to "Noticias", part of the construction materials, particularly iron structures, as well as the equipment for the graphite processing plant are already in Muichi, which is about 6 kilometers from the district town of Nipepe, where prospecting and research studies developed by the Chinese company DH Mining Development Limited concluded the existence of reserves of the ore estimated at 50 million tons.
Song Shao Weide, resident representative of the board of the Chinese-owned company DH Mining Development Limited, said that the plant, which is currently under construction, will have an installed processing capacity of about 400 tons per day, corresponding to 10,000 tons of this ore, which has many important applications in the automotive industry, electrical equipment, and high-quality paints to prevent corrosive effects.
For the flow of graphite, from the factory to the Port of Nacala, in the neighboring province of Nampula, through national road number 13, a bridge will be built over the Lúrio river, which limits the two provinces.
The laying of the first stone, which will mark the beginning of the works, will take place on the 15th of the current month, a ceremony that will be headed by the Secretary of State for Niassa, Dinis Vilanculos.
About 400 workers will be needed to be part of the construction work on the bridge and factory complex in Muichi, and according to the source, most will be recruited at the local level as part of the commitment made to the local community in the context of promoting opportunities for access to formal employment.
Meanwhile, António Guido, director of the Office of the Secretary of State in Niassa, who recently visited the district of Nipepe, has asked the management of HD Mining Development Limited for the Chinese company to provide scholarships for the training of young people from the general secondary level to higher education inside and outside the country.
António Guido justified that by acting this way the company will be guaranteeing the employability of local labor, a fundamental step in the promotion of good relations and development of the communities in the area of the mining undertaking's activities.
