Private sector and partners seek strategies for tourism recovery

Massive vaccination against covid-19, promotion of domestic tourism, definition of a plan of measures for the use of beaches, permission for people without a PCR test to enter as long as they present a vaccination certificate, are some of the strategies put forward by the private sector for the rapid recovery of the tourism sector, the most affected by the restrictive measures imposed by the government to stop the spread of covid-19.

In a Round Table, promoted last week by the CTA's Tourism, Hotels and Restaurants Division, to share ideas about which strategies to adopt for the recovery of Tourism, the representative of the National Institute of Health announced that the Tourism Sector will have priority with regard to immunization, in the vaccination campaign that starts today, Wednesday.

The news was well received by operators in the sector, who classify the measure as valuable, as it is a sure step on the right path for the recovery of Tourism.

Through the electronic platform, a joint work with the Government in the promotion of Mozambique as a tourist destination is proposed. The Municipality of Maputo has agreed to the proposal of creating the Convention Bureau, and the private operators are committed to prepare the action plan for its implementation.

The operators also propose to accept rapid tests for those who can afford them, and through these tests to allow for events with a considerable number of participants and/or to accept vaccination certificates. On a reciprocal basis, tour operators request the acceptance of entry for people without a PCR test, as long as they present vaccination certificates or rapid anti-gravity test. During the Round Table, the idea of creating a certification or classification system for independent hotels was welcomed.
