The President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, says he believes the gas projects in the Rovuma Basin, Cabo Delgado, will be resumed soon, thanks to the liberation, recently, of all villages and localities, previously occupied by insurgents.
The Head of State said, this Saturday, in Pemba, that the resumption of projects, especially the TOTAL oil company, in Palma, is not only a desire of Mozambique, but of the whole world.
"It is the desire of all of us, everybody who wants to prosper. The projects in that area, some timidly continued, others stopped because in fact it was a fire zone, but soon, everything indicates, the on shore part will be visible, the work that we were doing in prospecting, what is going to happen at sea. We believe it because, the companies that stopped being in the area, did not leave because they wanted to leave; our friends, in this specific case from TOTAL, they said that we are not leaving because we want to escape, we are leaving because we cannot be with lives at risk," he said.
Despite the liberation of the villages and towns, from the hands of the terrorists, the President of the Republic reiterated that it is important to be cautious about the return of the population.
Nyusi denied the thesis that terrorism in Cabo Delgado is a result of social asymmetries.
He also clarified that the presence of Rwandan troops in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado is the result of an invitation from the Mozambican government.
Nyusi said that contrary to what is advocated by some circles of opinion, Rwanda's intervention in Mozambique is not related to interests outside the scope of cooperation, on the part of this African country.
