The Forum of International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGO Forum) and NAIMA+ are concerned about the escalation of post-election violence in Mozambique.
In a statement that MZNews has seen, INGO and NAIMA say they are "deeply concerned about the escalation and its impact on access to essential services such as education and health, as well as violations of human rights law."
"We call on all stakeholders to ensure the continuity of humanitarian assistance and support for essential services, including health and education, without hindrance," the document reads.
The INGO Forum urges the Government of Mozambique to protect civilians participating in peaceful demonstrations and to ensure accountability for those who perpetrate acts of violence, particularly against children, in accordance with the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
The INGO Forum in Mozambique facilitates coordination, information exchange and strategic discussions between international NGOs to increase operational effectiveness and program implementation.
NAIMA+ is a network of international NGOs in Mozambique dedicated to coordinating efforts, exchanging information and advocating for improvements in health, in collaboration with national partners and civil society.
The INGO Forum and NAIMA+ reaffirm their commitment to supporting Mozambique on its path to peace and prosperity.
