Vilankulo will soon be the country's electrical energy "epicenter

With the construction of the Temane Thermal Power Plant, Pambara and Mapinhane substations, and the announcement of the arrival, next November, of the Chibabava-Temane line, Vilankulo district will have the second largest electricity reservoir in the country.

The information was advanced this Wednesday (22), by the administrator, Edmundo Galiza Matos Júnior, during the meeting of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment study of the 110-kilovolt Massinga - Vilankulo Power Transmission Line Project, whose construction will start next year.

Cited by "Notícias", Edmundo Galiza Matos Júnior, explained that the gains are immeasurable, since, in addition to more connections for domestic use, electricity opens space for industrialization and, as a result, the creation of more jobs.

"This project will allow the electrification of more localities and villages and will certainly extend the network for domestic consumption," he said.

Galiza Matos also said that the district so far has no industries because of energy, he added that the completion of these initiatives will attract more companies and broaden the business sector.

Further on, the leader called on the community leaders and Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) to distance themselves from acts of corruption in the hiring of labor and recommended the replacement of all vegetation destroyed under the project and the resettlement of the affected families.
