Vice-President of the HR appeals to the President of the CSFS for integrity

Vice-Presidente da AR apela a integridade ao Presidente do CSFS

The first Vice-President of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), Hélder Ernesto Injojo, this Thursday in Maputo urged the elected Chairman of the Supervisory Committee of the Mozambique Sovereign Fund (CSFSM), Emanuel Chaves, to ensure integrity in the exercise of his functions.

According to Mr. Injojo, the president-elect must represent the highest standards of integrity, competence and commitment to the public interest.

"This figure is the visible face of the Supervisory Committee and the guarantor of compliance with the principles of careful, efficient and transparent management of the resources that make up the Sovereign Fund," said the MP.

The election of the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee marks the final stage in the process of institutionalizing the Sovereign Wealth Fund, formally ending the Assembly of the Republic's role as the creative body.

"From now on, the Supervisory Committee will operate with the required autonomy and independence, exercising its powers in accordance with the law," he said, stressing that "our conviction, as the Assembly of the Republic, is that the mission of institutionalizing the Sovereign Fund ends with this act of electing the Chairman of the Supervisory Committee."

The Supervisory Committee is an independent body of the Mozambique Sovereign Wealth Fund, made up of representatives from various strata, including civil society, the private sector, academia, professional associations and credible and reputable religious associations, with the task of monitoring and overseeing revenues, deposits, the allocation of revenues to the state budget and to the Sovereign Wealth Fund from natural resources.
