Politician Venâncio Mondlane is currently meeting with the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo. The place and subject of the debate have not been disclosed.

In a post on his Facebook page today, Mondlane said that he was going to look after the interests of the people.

"In search of concrete solutions for the future of Mozambique, a meeting is currently taking place between VM7 and Daniel Chapo. The country above all. The people first".

This is the second meeting between Mondlane and Chapo. The first took place on the night of March 23 in Maputo.

The meeting was "part of the ongoing effort to promote national stability and strengthen the commitment to reconciliation and unity among Mozambicans", according to the presidency.

Mondlane was Chapo's main opponent in the presidential elections on October 9, 2024. The official results put him in second place, behind Chapo. However, he proclaims himself President elected by the People.

Venancio Mondlane led the post-election demonstrations between October 2024 and January 2025.
