The company Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM), which met today in an Extraordinary General Meeting, has dismissed the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Marcelino Gildo Alberto, with immediate effect.
A press release from the Institute for the Management of State Holdings (IGEPE), quoted by Radio MozambiqueIn addition, they also dismissed the Director for Finance, Human Resources and Corporate Services, Altino Xavier Mavile, and the Director for Technical and Operational Affairs, Bruno Miguel Domengue Lorena Heliotrope Miranda.
In effect, a new Non-Executive Board of Directors was appointed, made up of officials from the shareholder companies, Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM), Hidroeléctrica de Cahora Bassa (HCB), and Empresa Moçambicana de Seguros (EMOSE).
A Management Committee with executive functions has been appointed to ensure the day-to-day management of the airline. The Committee will be led by Dane Kondic, the Chairman, with Lucas António Francisco as the member for Administration and Finance, and Hilário Devis Tembe, responsible for the Technical and Operational area.
These moves come after the President of the Republic recently denounced the existence of lobbyists at LAM who were interested in sinking an already ailing company even further. Without naming names, he said there would be changes at the company.
