União Desportiva do Songo and Ferroviário de Maputo will decide their entry into the group stage of the African Champions League and CAF Cup on Saturday, when they face the Angolan teams of Petro de Luanda and Sagrada Esperança from Lunda-Norte, respectively.
According to Desafio newspaper, in the first leg, played in Maputo two weeks ago, Ferroviário de Maputo were fortunate to beat Sagrada Esperança 1-0, thanks to a goal scored by striker Mário.
Meanwhile, União Desportiva do Songo had the opposite fate, losing 1-2.
Now, in order to progress to the group stage, the two Mozambican representatives in the CAF competitions know what they have to do.
For Ferroviário de Maputo, entry into the CAF group stage means any of the following three results: win, draw and, if they lose, score by a difference of no more than two goals.
Everything is open for the second leg. Sagrada Esperança are now obliged to redouble their efforts to win, which will give us room to design the ideal strategy," admitted João Chissano, coach of Ferroviário de Maputo, while analyzing the result of a week ago and looking ahead to Saturday's match in Lubango.
