Administrative Court reduces backlog of cases in 2024

Tribunal Administrativo reduz pendência processual em 2024

The Administrative Court has reduced the number of cases pending in 2024 to 16%, compared to the previous year. The information is contained in the Progress and Financial Report, a document considered by the body's Advisory Council.

The reduction in pending cases is taking place in a context in which the Administrative Court is introducing institutional reforms, which include improving the internal control system, improving working conditions and using electronic platforms for document and procedural management.

It is within this approach that, for example, in the overall movement of pending cases the figures point to a reduction of 16% in 2024, compared to the previous year.

The reduction, according to the document quoted in the newspaper "O Pais", was also seen in the Second Section, i.e. the Tax and Customs Litigation Section, where it reached 89 percent.

The Administrative Court decided on 39,692 personnel-related cases, out of a total of 42,082. 50,630 of the 54,145 cases submitted for prior review were decided, figures that do not include the cases dealt with by the provincial and Maputo City courts.

Despite the encouraging figures, the Administrative Court was faced with enormous constraints due to the demonstrations in the last months of 2024. This affected the achievement of the targets in their entirety. (Source: O País)
