Three Mozambican artists present joint choreography in Lisbon

Três artistas moçambicanos apresentam coreografia conjunta em Lisboa

This Friday in Lisbon, Portugal, Mozambican artists Vasco Sitoe, Francisca Mirine and Leia Mabasso will present a joint choreographic work developed as part of the "Itinerários" program.

A note we received states that it is a choreography of "concealment and revelation", called Hidden Identity.

The work was carried out during a four-week residency between Deltebre (Spain), Lisbon and Maputo (Mozambique).

It is from this double gesture of covering up and revealing (and making us see) their bodies, their biographies and their opinions, and the social and political context in which they live, that they think about the relationship between art, tradition and power.

The EVC and Camões - Centro Cultural Português in Maputo are continuing the joint programming that began in 2021, developing various programs and initiatives that establish contact between Lisbon and Maputo.

Itineraries is part of this joint program, building bridges between the two countries and enabling the circulation and internationalization of dance.

This edition is being mediated by Edna Jaime, David Marques and also with the support of L'Obrador, in Deltebre, and the Kinani Festival and Converge +, in Maputo.
