The Mayor of Quelimane, Manuel de Araújo, promised yesterday at the party's political headquarters to submit a criminal complaint against the provincial commander of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique to international bodies.
According to the mayor, who has already filed a criminal case against the police officer, the way is open for international judicial processing of the criminal complaint if the justice institutions in Mozambique make it impossible to proceed.
He also sued the Director of the Order, the Commander of the Rapid Intervention Unit, and the commanders of the 1st and 4th PRM Squads. The lawsuits stem from the death of a 16-year-old teenager last week, November 13.
This information was given by the mayor after a march with his supporters that had already lasted into the night.
According to the mayor, the people concerned have already been informed.
"If the Attorney General's office doesn't resolve it, we'll go to the African court. And if the human rights court doesn't resolve it, we'll go to The Hague, to the international criminal court," he warned.
The mayor said that the evidence had already been "stored".
