Total Energies launches internship program for young Mozambican women

Total Energies lança programa de estágios profissionalizantes para jovens mulheres moçambicanas

TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada, in its capacity as operator of the Mozambique LNG project, launched a paid professional internship program a few days ago, called WiSE+.

The program aims to integrate and train 20 young Mozambican women (21 to 26 years old), recent graduates, with at least a degree in areas including renewable energies, architecture, civil engineering, health, safety, environment, project management, human resources, communication, accounting and finance, into the company for a period of 6 months.

Candidates for WISE+ Junior will go through a rigorous and successive selection process whose criteria also include fluency in Portuguese, an intermediate level of English and an academic average of 14 or higher.

No professional experience is required, but candidates with no more than 24 months' professional experience will be accepted.

Applications will run from January 18th to February 6th. This first phase includes the online application through the WiSE+Junior platform, the link to which is available on the program's various social networks, and the online evaluation of applications.

The second phase, which will run from February 7 to the end of May, will include a face-to-face assessment of the candidates' skills, tests and interviews with the candidates and, finally, the integration of the selected candidates into TotalEnergies for an internship.

Jenifer Cheveia, Vice President for Corporate Affairs at TotalEnergies EP Mozambique Area 1 Limitada said that "although in Force Majeure on its Mozambique LNG project and not actively recruiting, TotalEnergies is committed to contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, in particular, in this case, with regard to (i) gender equality, (ii) reducing inequalities and (iii) peace, justice and effective institutions.

In this way, and in line with policies established by the Government of Mozambique, we want to contribute to boosting the participation of women in the oil and gas industry, traditionally dominated by men, by providing them with an opportunity to start their career in a renowned multi-energy multinational, demanding high-level performance."

Cheveia added that "we are aware that we will not be able to absorb all the professionals who complete the internship, but we are certain that by systematically developing this initiative, we will contribute to the creation of a pipeline of young professionals capable of adjusting to any organizational culture and providing quality results in Mozambique or anywhere else in the world.

We therefore believe that these internships can add value to the lives of young people and to the sustainable development of the country." (Letter)
