Tete: Individual arrested in possession of SNS medicines

Tete: Detido indivíduo na posse de medicamentos do SNS

An individual has been arrested in Tete on charges of stealing and selling various medicines, allegedly embezzled from the National Health System (SNS).

The accused was arrested by SERNIC when he was selling the drugs inside the Canongola market in the city of Tete, according to the newspaper "O País".

In his possession were found several bottles of Penicillin, Benzathine, bottles of diluent water, paracetamol, Azithromycin, syringes, balm bottles and others, all from the National Health System. The accused denies owning the drugs.

This is the second case of theft and illegal sale of medicines this year. The first, according to the newspaper, took place in January, involving a health worker from the Angónia district.

It should be noted that the Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, acknowledged a few days ago in the city of Pemba that theft has been the main cause of the shortage of medicines in health units, but assured that the government is working on strengthening measures to eliminate the detour of medicines.
