Tanzania presents first locally produced business aircraft

Tanzânia apresenta primeiro avião de negócios de produção local

Airplanes Africa Limited (AAL) recently unveiled the first aircraft manufactured on Tanzanian territory in Dar Es Salaam during the Diamond Jubilee Hall of the Tanzania International Manufacturers Expo 2023 (TIMEXPO).

This is the Skyleader 600, designed to transport two people, namely businessmen, including the pilot, at affordable prices and low operating costs.

AAL Director David Grolic revealed that the company decided to take advantage of Tanzania's favorable business climate and the need to adopt new technologies by setting up its aircraft assembly plant in the country.

"We carried out an exhaustive survey to understand the needs of businesspeople who frequently travel long distances," he said, quoted by BI.

"In response to this inquiry, we decided to introduce an airplane that would allow businessmen to travel more comfortably and attend various meetings outside the region before returning to the city for other activities," he added.

The company is now working on the Skyleader 500 model to operate in the agricultural sector. The plane should be completed next year.

David Grolic also stressed that these planes are economical and that paying for one is comparable to paying for a car. In addition, they have low operating costs, consume little energy and are easy to maintain.

The Director said that the initial plan revolves around sales on the domestic market, before moving on to sell to the international market.
