Solomone entra a ganhar no “Mundial” de boxe

Mozambican international boxer Solomone Júlio made his debut in style at the Men's World Boxing Championships in Uzbekistan, beating Taganmyrat Gurbanov from Turkmenistan 5-0 in the 80-86kg division.

Solomone, who is African champion in his category, a title he won last year in Maputo, entered the ring confidently and right from the first round he was punishing his opponent, who finished the fight with a lot of effort.

With his victory, the Mozambican boxer is through to the last 16 of this global mega-event.

This was the first victory for a Mozambican male athlete in the opening round of the competition, which runs until the 14th of this month.

Solomone was the first Mozambican athlete on stage. Mozambique is yet to put three more boxers in the ring, namely Tiago Muxanga, Yassine Nordine and Armando Sigaúque. (News)
