The municipality of Marracuene attended the World Metropolitan Summit 2025, held in Barcelona, Spain, one of the most important international forums on metropolitan governance and development.

The event brought together local leaders from various parts of the world to debate issues related to inter-municipal coordination, urban mobility, territorial planning and sustainable financing mechanisms.

In less than two years since its municipalization, Marracuene has already joined the global metropolitan network, reinforcing its commitment to building joint solutions to improve public services, transport and sustainable urban development.

During the summit, the Marracuene delegation took part in various panel discussions and bilateral meetings, where they shared experiences and presented the municipality's potential as a new metropolitan hub in the Maputo region.

In one of the highlights of the visit, the representatives of Marracuene met with the president and vice-president of Barcelona City Council, as well as leaders of the Barcelona Metropolitan Agency, to discuss future cooperation partnerships in the areas of urban planning and environmental innovation. On the occasion, Marracuene offered souvenirs depicting its rich cultural mosaic.

The delegation was accompanied by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Transport Agency (AMT), Fernando Andela, whose presence symbolized the importance of institutional coordination in promoting integrated metropolitan governance.

Marracuene's participation in the World Metropolitan Summit 2025 consolidates the municipality's image as an emerging player on the national and international urban scene, committed to learning and contributing to a global network of more sustainable and inclusive cities.
