Reinildo candidate for La Liga's best African player award

Reinildo candidato ao prémio de melhor jogador africano da La Liga

Mozambican international Reinildo Mandava, who plays for Atlético Madrid, is one of the candidates for the award for best African soccer talent in La Liga, the Spanish league, for the 2022-2023 season.

After winning the La Liga player of the month award on several occasions as a result of his assured displays, the Mozambican international is still after more accolades or titles in one of the best leagues on the planet.

Despite picking up an injury on February 25 in the game against Real Madrid and missing the last part of the season, the critics in the Spanish league have not stopped looking at his great performance, placing him as one of the eight African players with the requirements to win the best this season.

These are Inaki Williams (Atlético de Bilibao), Samo Chukweze (Villareal), Djené (Getafe), Aidoo (Celta de Vigo), Sabaly (Betis), Diakhaby (Valencia) and Bono (Sevilla). The election will be by public vote.

The valuable Mambas player has clocked up 2725 minutes in 33 games this season, with his debut coming at Camp Nou against Barcelona, a match in which his side lost four goals to two.

In October 2022, the Mozambican international was voted Atlético Madrid's player of the month in a vote by the club's fans.

Mandava earned the same accolade in April, when he beat off competition from Kondogbia, Carrasco, João Félix and Luís Suarez. (O País)
