Natural Resources: Mozambique could collect USD 95 billion in coming years

Recursos Naturais: Moçambique poderá arrecadar USD 95 biliões nos próximos anos

Over the next 30 years, Mozambique could earn around 95 billion dollars from the exploitation of natural resources, specifically oil and gas.

The information was given yesterday in Maputo by the chairman of the Planning and Budget Committee (CPO) of the Assembly of the Republic (AR), António Niquice, during the public hearing on the law creating the Sovereign Fund.

According to Notícias online, which quotes AIM, Niquice stressed that the country is on the verge of joining the five major economies that produce "immeasurable" quantities of gas.

"Mozambique is about to become one of the five major economies that hold immeasurable quantities of natural gas. We're talking about 180 trillion cubic meters of gas, which are quite significant reserves," said the source.

The parliamentarian assumes that the amount envisaged is high, and justifies this with the management to be assigned to the Sovereign Fund.
