The work to repair the fault in the water transport line from the Nicoadala Borehole Field to the Quelimane Distribution Center is 70 percent complete.% and could be completed by the evening of Wednesday, March 22, which will allow for the gradual re-establishment of a normal water supply to the city of Quelimane, Zambezia province.
While the line is being restored, the company Águas da Região do Centro, SA (AdRC) is guaranteeing the provision of minimum water supply services to the accommodation centers for the victims of Cyclone Freddy, prison services and health facilities, among others.
AdRC's technical administrator, Manuel Mussequejua, explained that the new fittings to be used to connect around 120 meters of the pipe washed away by the rains caused by the cyclone have already been manufactured, and the production of parts to anchor the pipe is underway.
"Now, as a result of the breakdown, the pipe is practically empty and will be filled gradually over the next 24 hours or so. In the process, the water supply will gradually be restored, covering all the city's neighborhoods covered by the AdRC system," he said.
It should be noted that the water supply to the city of Quelimane is conditioned, with restrictions in place in all the neighbourhoods, and the lack of water is minimized by using the Licuar source as an alternative.
