This week, in the city of Quelimane, the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) arrested a Tanzanian national in possession of half a kilo of amphetamine.
The information was provided by SERNIC's spokesman, Maximino Amílcar, during a press conference held yesterday.
Quoted by “Notícias”, Amílcar said that a Mahindra vehicle was also found at the scene, which was used to transport the drugs.
The source added that inside the vehicle there was a hidden compartment, through which the drugs were placed and transported on the Zalala-Chuabo Dembe route, only at night.
He also explained that the drugs are produced abroad and then transported to Mozambique, which serves as a transit point to other parts of the world.
Material used on the high seas was also seized, such as GPS, vests, bags, etc. which were used to communicate with those on land.
However, the accused denies all the charges, explaining that he came to Mozambique to seek better living conditions.
Since January, SERNIC has recorded five drug seizures, resulting in eight arrests. (Source: Notícias)
