Maputo province led during the festive season as the country's main tourist destination, having received a total of 148,000 tourists, including foreign and domestic.

The data were presented a few days ago, in Maputo, by the national director of Tourism, Cândido Langa, during a conference on the sector during the festive season, adding that the provinces of Inhambane and Gaza appear in second and third places on the list of the main destinations, with 103,000 and 23,000 tourists, respectively.

According to Cândido Langa, quoted by the newspaper Notícias, of the 314 thousand guests expected, the country registered 324,706 during the period in reference, of which about 203 thousand are nationals, which means that Mozambicans are increasingly taking advantage of the tourist potential.

According to the source, as a result of this movement, the Tourism sector collected a revenue of 5 billion meticais, against 755 thousand of the same period last year.
