The Association of United and Solidarity Health Professionals of Mozambique (APSUSM) is demanding a change in the committee representing the government in the ongoing dialogue to find a solution to the association's letter of demand, which is threatening to go on strike again.
At a press conference held this Monday (04) in Maputo, the president of APSUSM, Anselmo Muchave, explained that the demand to change the commission is due to non-compliance with the protocols agreed in previous dialogue sessions, which is delaying negotiations with the government.
The commission, according to Muchave, has not followed its role as mediator and representative of the government.
"We, as an association, are being ignored, because we have already submitted this data to the government and the executive has put in place a team that ignores it and creates WhatsApp groups. The government should be ashamed of itself for creating WhatsApp groups to deal with issues that deal with lives," said Muchave, quoted by AIM.
APSUSM's charter of demands, submitted to the government in 2023, includes payment of overtime, shifts, exclusivity, the definitive reorganization of the general and specific regime of the National Health System (SNS), as well as the payment of fixed salaries on fixed dates.
"All these problems continue to be ignored. What's happening is that the government says it's solving them, but it doesn't have any protocol for what's being done," he said, stressing that the commission set up by the government doesn't have a protocol with the agreed points.
"The government team just says we've sorted it out. They don't have any documents on file, but they say they've sorted it out," he added.
Last March, APSUSM announced that it would resume an indefinite strike if the government did not respond to the concerns of the class. The threat comes two years after the government and the association signed agreements to find a resolution to the charter of demands.
