Prime Minister defends greater connection between agricultural production centers and markets

Primeiro-ministro defende maior ligação entre centros de produção agrícola e mercados

The Prime Minister, Adriano Maleiane, yesterday, during the ceremony where he took over from Momed Valá as director-general of the Instituto de Cereais de Moçambique (ICM), Alfredo da Piedade Nampuio, defended the establishment of greater links between production centers and markets, by promoting the marketing of surplus agricultural production.

For Adriano Maleiane, "the entity must guarantee strategic reserves of cereals, pulses and oilseeds for food security, promote exports and the stability of prices for agricultural products on the domestic market".

At the same session, the Prime Minister also swore in the Director General of Intellectual Property, Sheila Canda, whom he reminded of her role in discouraging unfair practices in the market.

As for the Commissioner General for Expo 2025, Riduan Ismael and his deputy, Cândido Namburete, the Prime Minister challenged them to strengthen partnerships with different public-private sectors with a view to the country's successful participation in the event.
