Today, June 16, in the district of Mueda, Cabo Delgado province, the President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, is leading the Central Ceremony to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the Mueda Massacre, a historic milestone in the national liberation struggle and in the affirmation of Mozambican identity.
The celebrations are particularly symbolic as they coincide with the Day of the African Child, a date that remembers the sacrifice of the children of Soweto and reinforces Mozambique's commitment to the rights and well-being of children.
A press release from the Presidency indicates that the ceremony will be attended by former Presidents of the Republic, members of the Government, signatories of the Political Commitment for an Inclusive National Dialogue, among other guests.
The commemorations aim to promote the values of peace, national unity, reconciliation and inclusion, essential pillars for the country's sustainable development.
