The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, heads the morning todayand, on April 28, at the Joaquim Chissano International Conference Center in Maputo City, the opening ceremony of the 10th Session of the Forum for Consultation on Land (FCT).
According to a note from the Presidency, the Forum will take place under the slogan: "For equitable access, secure tenure and sustainable use of land."
The FCT is an inclusive space for dialogue and reflection, aimed at consolidating the policy and regulatory framework for access, use and exploitation of land in Mozambique, as well as promoting more effective management and administration of this strategic resource.
During the event, representatives of local communities, the public and private sectors, civil society and educational institutions, including peasants, women and young people, will present proposals to enrich the draft of the future Land Law.
The new Land Law is expected to strengthen security of tenure and land use, reduce conflicts and illegal occupations, promote planned urbanization, facilitate access to land for women, young people and private investors, and protect the rights of local communities.
