The Republic of Mozambique Police (PRM), in Cabo Delgado, is taking positive stock of the first stages of the electoral campaign, towards the presidential, legislative and provincial assembly elections on October 9..
According to the head of public relations at the provincial command, Aniceto Magome, the corporation only registered one case of destruction of propaganda material.
"At the headquarters of the Kuekue administrative post in the district of Balama, a member of one party was caught removing and destroying leaflets from another political formation, and was arrested. The case is before the local district court," said the source, noting that "apart from this episode, throughout Cabo Delgado province, the election campaign is orderly and peaceful".
Quoted by NewsAniceto Magome added that before the start of the electoral campaign, the PRM met in Pemba with the competing parties, asking for everyone's cooperation so that the hunt for votes would run smoothly.
"This agreement is having the desired effect. In fact, all the parties share their campaign agendas and routes before they leave their headquarters, which allows the police to monitor the caravans," Magome said.
He went on to point out that even in cases where the police suggest changing the routes so that they don't coincide with those of other parties, they comply without any problems. "So we hope that this will continue until the end of the campaign, the vote and until the results are announced," he concluded.
