The Mozambican Attorney General's Office (PGR) has asked Venâncio Mondlane, in this case the complainant, to submit copies, videos, photographs and other relevant material that can serve as evidence for the issues listed in the complaint submitted on September 23 about electoral illicit acts..
In a document quoted by the newspaper "The Country"The Public Prosecutor's Office said it had already opened criminal proceedings against the people accused of committing electoral offenses.
"After analyzing the facts contained in the report submitted by Your Excellencies, we found reports of electoral offenses, some of which were known unofficially by the organs of the Public Prosecutor's Office and are being processed by the respective prosecutors' offices, and others were known from this report and will be forwarded to the competent subordinate organs of the Public Prosecutor's Office for further processing," reads the letter of clarification sent by the PGR.
Meanwhile, with regard to the FASE Project vehicle belonging to the state, which according to the complaint by presidential candidate Venâncio Mondlane was allegedly used by members of the Frelimo party in the Bilene district, the PGR states that: "On this matter, a criminal case has been opened under No. 02/PDRB/IE/2024, at the District Prosecutor's Office of the Republic-Bilene, in the preparatory instruction phase."
Regarding the illegal arrests, the Public Prosecutor's Office said that the arrest of the district representative of the PODEMOS party in Macanga district, Tete province, on September 13, 2024, was referred to the competent public prosecutor's office for investigation.
