Nyusi urges Military Academy to introduce new academic courses

Nyusi exorta Academia Militar a introduzir novos cursos académicos

The President of the Republic (PR), Filipe Nyusi, today urged the managers of the Marechal Samora Machel Military Academy to introduce new academic training courses.

"Without pressuring, we want to recommend that the Academy start thinking about introducing new courses such as military medicine, law and a degree in military information," he suggested.

For Nyusi, the courses mentioned are pertinent by their nature, but they could also serve to respond to current demands.

According to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Defense of Mozambique, it is essential for the military to know "everything that others know", including "matters of war".

"In fact, I've said that a military doctor is complete because he knows everything the others know, but he knows how to treat in war, on the move and in panic," he said.

He was speaking in the city of Nampula at the 17th graduation ceremony for officers, where he promised to continue training the military.

"We make this exhortation with full awareness and looking to the future, because the officers trained at this academy are Mozambique's heritage. They must be able to exercise different specialties within the FADM and in the country in general," he said.

Nyusi urged the graduates to always act in the interest and defense of the homeland "to the detriment of particular interests or those of any group".
