On Friday afternoon in Maputo, Nissan, an automobile company, presented a range of electric cars that are already in the country and launched the newest Qashqai model on the same occasion.

Nissan is investing in electric vehicles as a way of preserving the environment and guaranteeing the sustainability of biodiversity by offering ecological solutions in line with the global agenda of reducing carbon emissions on the planet.

According to the company's Director, Ivan Búzi, the aim is to show that it is possible for the country to embrace the global energy transition agenda within its means and in accordance with the government's laws.

"We have two types of electric vehicles in the country, one with a battery capacity of up to 62 kilowatts, with a range of approximately 280 kilometers, and the other with a range of 550 kilometers," he said.

Ivan Búzi was speaking on the sidelines of the multi-brand Maputo Auto Show, which is taking place between March 26 and 28 at the Automobile and Touring Club of Mozambique (ATCM) track.

Regarding the energy transition, the President of the Republic, Filipe Nyusi, said recently during the Zimbabwe-Mozambique Business Forum that the business community of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) should think about producing batteries to fuel the energy transition process.

Nissan's director said that this was an incentive that would encourage entrepreneurs in the automotive industry to invest more in the energy transition and in the production of batteries for electric vehicles.

"It's also very gratifying to know that not only are we on this path, but very recently the government announced that it expects initiatives so that we can have electric cars, as well as the possibility of producing batteries," he said.

He also explained that the process of refueling the e-vehicles is done through mobile charging systems, which can be attached anywhere and last a maximum of 6 hours.

This type of vehicle is powered by an electric generation system, unlike the usual internal combustion engine vehicles, which are currently one of the main environmental problems due to the level of pollution caused by gas emissions.

On the same occasion, a new Nissan Qashqai model was unveiled, with state-of-the-art technology.
