Niassa: Governo necessita de 67 milhões de meticais para manutenção de estradas

The roads sector in Niassa needs 67 million meticais to deal with the maintenance of some access roads during the rainy season.

According to the provincial delegate of the National Roads Administration (ANE) in Niassa, Oreste Zezela, the sum will be used to improve the access roads considered critical at the moment, especially on the Cuamba-Mecanhelas, Etatara-Mepanhira, Mecanhelas-Entrelagos, Unango-Macaloge and Majune-Mavago sections.

"The money will also be used to replace platforms, pontoons and aqueducts that have collapsed due to excessive rainfall," added Zezela, quoted by Rádio Moçambique, guaranteeing that there are 50 contractors throughout the province, ready to solve problems if necessary.

On the same occasion, he confirmed the existence of a budget of 226 million meticais that the roads sector has owed to six contractors since last year, and is currently working to settle.

Niassa province has 7690 kilometers of roads and since the start of the rainy season, 35 kilometers of roads have been damaged.
