The government of Nampula province, in northern Mozambique, in coordination with various development partners, announced last Thursday (15) the availability of credit lines to boost agricultural marketing, in an initiative aimed at efficiently absorbing surplus rural production and stimulating the growth of the agro-industrial value chain..

The revelation was made during the 7th Provincial Agricultural Marketing Forum, held in the district of Rapale, under the slogan: "Strengthening rural financing as a structuring axis for local economic development and food security".

According to a Txopela newspaperOn the occasion, the governor of Nampula stressed the importance of making agricultural credit a functional and accessible tool for those involved in the sector, calling for swift capitalization of the lines of finance now available, as a way of avoiding wasted production and guaranteeing greater liquidity for small producers.

During the event, the symbolic handing over of giant checks to selected beneficiaries took place, marking the formal start of the fund distribution process.

The governor also challenged local beneficiaries and entrepreneurs to invest in setting up small agro-processing units, with the aim of stimulating rural industrialization, increasing the added value of products and guaranteeing the presence of manufactured goods on the markets of the province and the country, at competitive prices.
