Nacala Logistics adopts electronic ticketing system for Passenger transportation

Nacala Logistics adopta sistema de bilhetes electrónicos para transporte de Passageiros

Nacala Logistics, manager of the railway lines in the north of the country, announced this Wednesday the introduction of electronic tickets for the passenger transport service on all sections operated by the company

"The measure is part of the project to modernize the passenger management system and will ensure greater flexibility and operational efficiency" on routes linking Cuamba, the network's central point, to Lichinga, Namupla and Entre Lagos, reads a statement.

Passenger trains gain from the speed in buying tickets, while the company has greater capacity to manage the sales process, highlights Nacala Logistics.

"This process is here to stay and we are working to introduce more innovations," said Francisco Ricarte, railway operations manager.

Soon it is planned that "passengers will also be able to make payments via M-Pesa [mobile application] and through other electronic solutions available in the market," he concluded.

The latest data indicate that about 55 thousand passengers circulated in the second quarter of this year in the so-called 'Northern Corridor', an increase of 17% compared to the first quarter, which is seen as a sign of "gradual recovery of economic activity".
