A total of 150 scholarships will be awarded to the same number of young people, especially girls, for courses taught in the faculties of Engineering, Letters and Social Sciences at the Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM), as well as technical vocational education for the 2026 academic year..
Of this number, 120 are reserved for students from Maputo province. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance, tuition fees, training equipment and a computer.
According to the sponsor of the scholarships, Mozal, 100 of those selected in Maputo will be girls who intend to take professional technical courses at the Armando Emílio Guebuza Industrial and Computing Institute; the Matola Commercial and Industrial Institute, and the Boane Agricultural Institute, from the districts of Boane, Matola, Namaacha and Moamba. Another 30 young people, including 20 girls from those four districts, are students on the Engineering course at UEM.
The remaining 20 will be distributed throughout the country, 10 of which will be for people with disabilities who want to study for a degree in Letters and Social Sciences, Exact Sciences and Engineering.
On the occasion, the director of the Provincial Social Affairs Services in Maputo, Maria de Lurdes Brige, welcomed the initiative, as it serves to encourage girls to train in engineering, in order to ensure gender balance.

Maria de Lurdes Brige recalled that during the 2019-2025 period, more than 300 girls benefited from Mozal-funded scholarships for professional technical education courses.
