Moçambique regista queda de preços para o valor mais baixo em 12 meses

Data released by the National Statistics Institute (INE) indicate that year-on-year inflation in the country slowed down in April to its lowest level in 12 months.

Thus, according to INE's latest assessment, inflation was once again in the single digits at 9.61% in April, 1.22 percentage points less than in March.

"Some foodstuffs have become cheaper, such as corn kernels, cooking oil, coconut, lettuce and chicken, as well as other products, such as motorcycles and televisions," said the INE in its Consumer Price Index (CPI) bulletin.

According to the IPC bulletin, which collects data to calculate inflation in eight Mozambican cities: Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Quelimane, Tete, Chimoio, Xai-xai and Inhambane, adding up the monthly figures, the accounts for the first four months of the year closed with accumulated inflation of 3.58%.
