Mozambique is going to boost coffee growing and respond to producers' demands for greater clarity in the value chain in this area, increasing its competitiveness.
The information was provided by the head of the Rural Technologies Department at the National Directorate for Local Economic Development, Tiago Luís, quoted by Notícias.
The source said that this boost to culture has the support of foreign organizations.
Tiago Luís was recently speaking at an event organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MADER) as part of the celebration of International Coffee Day.
Coffee is among the most traded raw materials in the world, in a matrix that also includes oil, natural gas, gold and sugar. In Mozambique, coffee is currently produced mainly in the provinces of Manica, Sofala and Cabo Delgado.
It is worth remembering that Mozambique joined the International Coffee Organization (ICO) about a year ago, a platform that offers opportunities to access technical assistance and compete in more demanding global markets.
Joining this organization allows national producers to benefit from new market opportunities to grow their business.
The expectation is that Mozambique will create a coffee industry capable of generating economic benefits, improving the lives of those involved and positioning the country as a major player in the coffee market.
