Mozambique may experience normal economic growth starting in 2022

Mozambique believes that from 2022 on it will be able to recover its normal pace of economic growth

The perspective was presented, on Monday, to the member countries of the United Nations, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation at the seventy-sixth session of the UN General Assembly.

 According to Verónica Macamo although the country is still suffering from the effects of the covid-19 pandemic, statistics indicate that this year Mozambique may resume in 1.3% the process of economic recovery of the Gross Domestic Product.

"The impact of the pandemic has influenced Mozambique's economic slowdown to negative levels by 2020. The country is expected to begin its economic recovery this year at the rate of 1.3 % of GDP, followed by more solid growth from 2022 onwards," he said.

 Verónica Macamo reinforced the appeal to the international community to channel all the necessary support to the immunization process of the Mozambican population.

 The governor took the opportunity to welcome international support in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado province.

Also in her speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation renewed Mozambique's commitment to meet the Sustainable Development Goals in the framework of the implementation of the 2030 agenda.
