Mozambique could receive 10 million tourists a year by 2025

Moçambique poderá receber 10 milhões de turistas por ano até 2025

Mozambique could attract ten million tourists a year by the end of 2025, said the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Eldevina Materula, on Monday in Maputo, during the launch ceremony of the electronic visa platform (e-Visto).

Quoted by ClubofMozambique, she said that the aim of the government platform is to promote a greater flow of tourists and businesspeople into the country.

The creation of the electronic visa was foreseen in the Economic Acceleration Package (PAE) and "we hope to reach 10 million tourists to our country by 2025".

In addition to simplifying entry visas, the e-Visa will fight corruption, improve the business environment, stimulate good governance, attract more foreign investment and boost tourism, said the Minister.

From January to June, Mozambique registered around 350,000 international visitors, compared to around 200,000 in the same period of 2021, which represents an increase of 64 percent.

Since the introduction of the e-Visa platform, there have been around 30 online visa applications. The first person to receive an e-Visa is already in Mozambique.
