Mozambique meets with President of 76th UN General Assembly

The Mozambican diplomatic chief had a meeting with the president of the 76th UN General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid. The information is in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. 

According to the statement, the audience served to Verónica Macamo to inform and explain the decision of the Mozambican government to apply for non-permanent membership of the Security Council. 

In the same meeting, Verónica Macamo addressed aspects related to the management of the covid-19 pandemic and the country's defense and security. 

For his part, "President Shahid praised the commitment of the Mozambican government in the fight against terrorism and covid-19. He also assured the support to the Mozambican candidacy to the UN Security Council".

The statement also said that the Mozambican diplomatic chief will meet with the UN Under-Secretary-General for Counter-Terrorism, Vladimir Voronkov. In addition, he will meet with the foreign ministers of Ukraine and Singapore.
