From August 7 to 9, the country is preparing to host the first edition of the International Industry and Trade Fair (FINDUCO), an event promoted by PAEMO - Platform for Assistance to Mozambican Entrepreneurs, in partnership with the Maputo City Council and the Ministry of Economy, through the National Directorate for Industry and Trade and the Directorate for Private Sector Support (DASP).
The fair will be held under the slogan "Industrialize Maputo", and aims to position itself as a driving force for the country's economic and industrial transformation.
The official launch of FINDUCO brought together more than a hundred personalities from the public and private sectors last Thursday, April 17, in the auditorium of Televisão de Moçambique (TVM), and was addressed by Nilza da Graça, Executive Director of PAEMO, who highlighted the strategic relevance of the initiative at a time when the Mozambican economy is facing structural changes.
"FINDUCO is a clear response to the current challenges of the global economic context and the urgent need to modernize our productive fabric," she said, stressing that the fair aims to be "a privileged space for debate, sharing innovation and consolidating strategic partnerships".
More than just an exhibition of products and services, FINDUCO aims to be a forum for debate on crucial issues for the country's economic future, such as digitalization, sustainability, financing, logistics and energy.
"The fair will be a catalyst for concrete solutions that respond to the obstacles that have held back Mozambique's industrialization," added Nilza da Graça.
The event has the support of partners and sponsors such as Mega Distribuição, Águas da Namaacha, Delta and Mozambique Facilities Management, giving the initiative a solid basis for success.
During the launch ceremony, the Industrial Association of Mozambique (AIMO) welcomed the creation of FINDUCO and expressed its willingness to collaborate with PAEMO. "We need platforms like this to foster public-private dialog and find real solutions to the challenges facing national industry," said Paulo Chibanga, Vice-President of AIMO.
The fair is also seen as a symbol of a new stage for the national industrial and commercial sector, reflecting a clear commitment to modernizing and strengthening the national economy. "If we want an economically independent country, we need to industrialize Maputo and Mozambique. FINDUCO represents the first decisive step on that road," said Osvaldo Faquir, a representative of Maputo City Council.
It should be noted that 26 countries are expected to take part in the fair, which will feature 60 speakers and 20,000 participants.
