Moçambique e Colômbia querem cooperação bilateral no comércio

The Prime Minister, Benvinda Levi, received the Vice President of Colombia and her delegation in her office this Thursday on a two-day visit to Mozambique, where the parties expressed their interest in cooperating in various areas.

On the occasion, Levi pointed out that the current international trade situation imposed by the United States of America forces countries to consolidate trade relations on a bilateral level.

"The recent decision by the United States forces countries to think about how to maximize bilateral trade and take advantage of the comparative advantages that countries have in particular," he said, quoted by "O País".

"In the field of investment, we would like to mention that His Excellency's delegation to the Vice-President of Colombia is accompanied by businesspeople who are taking the opportunity to visit FACIM, see the potential that the country offers and, from there, see to what extent we can cooperate and boost our trade relations," she said.

Levi also said that the parties will continue to work in multilateral forums to which they both belong, such as the United Nations, the Non-Aligned Movement and the groups of 77 plus China, in addition to other multilateral organizations, such as the World Trade Organization.

The visit by the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Mina, is part of the effort that both countries intend to make to revitalize the historic political-diplomatic relations that have existed since, on the one hand. On the other hand, Levi said that this meeting serves as a way of establishing relations in various other areas, with particular emphasis on the economic sphere.

To consolidate these relations, the parties intend to create an air link that will connect the two countries.

"We talked about the possibility of developing air communications in the future, so air transportation between Mozambique and Colombia, in order to better strengthen relations between the two countries," he said.

For her part, the Vice President of Colombia, Francia Mina, who thanked the Prime Minister for inviting Colombia to visit Mozambique last year, also invited the country to take part in the Agrarian Summit in Colombia, which will take place next year.

The parties described the meeting as very productive and of great importance for strengthening the historic relations between the two countries.
