NAt the signing of the agreement, the President of MISA Mozambique, Jeremias Langa, said that "the renewal of the agreement is a sign of confidence that Norway places in MISA Mozambique in its aim to promote press freedom and freedom of expression and to combat disinformation, which is a widespread concern".".
The Norwegian Ambassador to Mozambique, Haakon Gram-Johannessen, said that his government's priority was to support the strengthening of democracy in Mozambique, with the media playing a key role.
"MISA has proved to be a good strategic partner as an oversight body, the government's main interlocutor in the ongoing reforms, denouncing disinformation, abuses and violations during the elections and we hope to consolidate and expand the initiatives that have been developed since last year in the electoral context" he said.
The project "Freedom of the press, promotion of human rights and fact-checking" reflects the common commitment of Norway and MISA Mozambique to promote a free, safe and inclusive information environment that allows citizens to access quality information and fully exercise their democratic rights.
