Ukrainian Minister Promises to Visit Mozambique

Ministro ucraniano promete visitar Moçambique

Ukraine's Foreign Minister is going on a tour of the African continent to drum up support and today promised to visit Mozambique, where he intends to hold an "honest" dialogue about the war in his country.

Dmytro Kuleba said that his tour of African countries will continue "and Mozambique is among the countries we will visit to have a truly honest conversation".

On all three occasions when the member countries of the United Nations were asked to vote on whether or not to condemn the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Mozambique abstained from voting. This Wednesday, countries such as Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Brazil and Portugal voted on a resolution against Russia's annexation of four Ukrainian territories.

The trip has not yet been scheduled, but Kuleva explained that the intention is to ensure that Mozambique "realizes" that Ukraine is facing a "clear invasion".

However, Ukraine doesn't expect the arguments it puts forward to change the perception of the situation immediately.

"If we see that the reaction is honest and the country will continue to reflect on its position, we will clearly open up to this relationship," said Dmytro Kuleba, quoted by RTP.
