Meta goes ahead with the third round of layoffs

Meta avança com a terceira ronda de despedimentos

Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, began its third round of redundancies on Wednesday 24th.

The founder and CEO of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, had already said in March that he expected to make two rounds of redundancies in April and May - which would affect around 10,000 people.

So, given that around 4,000 people were made redundant in April, it's highly likely that 6,000 workers will be made redundant from the tech giant this May. Remember that in November 2022, 11,000 people had already been made redundant.

Meanwhile, with regard to the current round of redundancies, says the MarketWatch website that the areas most affected will be user experience, marketing and also recruitment.
