Megaprojects earn the state 15.5 billion meticais in the first semester

Megaprojectos rendem ao estado 15,5 mil milhões de meticais no primeiro semestre

Data recently released by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), in the State Budget Execution Report (REO), from January to June 2021, indicate that the contribution of the Megaprojects to the treasury was 15.5 billion Meticais in the first semester of the current year, a growth of 57.9% compared to the same period in 2020, when the State pocketed 9.8 billion Meticais.

The source illustrates that the amount recorded represents 15% of the total revenues collected by the Government, amounting to 127.4 billion Meticais.

Within the mega-projects, the highlight goes to the contribution of the oil exploration sector, which in the period under review reached 7.4 billion Meticals, against 4.2 billion Meticals in the same period last year.

The power generation sector stood out as the second area that contributed the most to the tax office last semester, having channeled 5.7 billion Meticais to the state coffers, compared to 3.5 billion Meticais registered in the first half of 2020.

In third place is the mineral resource exploration sector, which in the period under review channeled 1.7 billion Meticais, compared to 1.5 billion Meticais in the same period last year.

Finally, the other (unspecified) subsectors channeled, in the last semester, 581.6 million to the tax authorities, against 501.5 million Meticais registered in the first semester of 2020.
