The south and center of the country could be affected by bad weather from Saturday night onwards, warns the National Meteorological Institute (INAM).

The alert indicates the possibility of heavy rain, locally very heavy, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds in the city and province of Maputo.

In a statement, INAM said that the phenomenon could evolve tomorrow, Sunday, and could affect the provinces of Maputo, Gaza, Inhambane, Manica and Sofala.

In the south of the country, rainfall could exceed 50 millimeters in 24 hours, and in the center 70 millimeters.

On Monday (17), the same phenomenon could cause heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms in the provinces of Tete and Zambézia.
