Marracuene begins postal addressing process

Marracuene dá início ao processo de endereçamento postal

The municipality of Marracuene, in Maputo province, became the first municipality in the country to launch the postal addressing process, launched last Friday (03) by the Ministry of State Administration and Public Function (MAEFP) and partners.

Postal addressing consists of identifying and organizing streets, avenues, buildings and houses by assigning names, numbers and zip codes, as well as placing toponymic signs. The initiative also includes the creation of a geographical database that will allow for more modern and efficient urban management.

According to the MAEFP, the aim is to facilitate the delivery of mail, improve the provision of public and private services and make it easier to locate addresses. The work is being carried out under Decree 74/2024, of September 18, and will be the exclusive responsibility of the municipalities.
