Tomorrow, the School of Communication and Arts at Eduardo Mondlane University (ECA-UEM) will host the first National Music Therapy Conference, which will bring together professionals, academics, researchers and students.
Promoted by the National School of Music, in partnership with Diapason Progetti Musicali and AGAPE Mozambique as part of the "Building with Music" project, this is a "decisive" step towards the recognition and strengthening of music therapy in Mozambique, with relevance in clinical, educational and community contexts, according to a press release.
During the event, the new training curriculum for Mozambican music therapists will be presented, developed on the basis of local needs and valuing the richness of the national musical heritage.
"The curriculum represents a crucial step towards the professionalization of music therapy in the country, contributing to its consolidation as an area of therapeutic intervention and social development," reads the organization's document.
Among the highlights of the program are the presentation of the "Entendarte" and "Construindo com a Música" projects, as well as plenary lectures, practical workshops and round tables that will cover topics such as: Techniques and therapeutic approaches based on music; Applications in hospitals, schools and communities; Scientific research and evidence of the effects of music therapy; Professional training and continuous development; and Case studies and testimonies of the real impact of music therapy.
The event is aimed at musicians, psychologists, doctors, educators, researchers, students and representatives of health and education institutions interested in exploring and expanding the role of music as a therapeutic tool and an instrument of social inclusion.
