More than ten artisanal miners may have died in the collapse of a gold mine in the district of Vanduzi, in the province of Manica.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday morning when a layer of earth gave way in a mine with dozens of miners at work, according to the newspaper “O País”.
The case took place in a mine located in the region of six cars in the Vanduzi district at around two in the morning, where the victims were mining.
Landslides and the use of explosives are the main causes of death at the six-car mine, where more than 100 people have died since gold was discovered in the region.
